MODERNIZATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT: KEY CHALLENGES AND LEADING TRENDS
Abstract
The article examines current approaches to managing the efficiency of higher education under the conditions of transformational changes in the educational environment. Key challenges are highlighted, including the need to ensure high-quality educational services, integrate into the European Higher Education Area, address decentralization processes, and respond to growing competition in the educational services market. The paper analyzes leading modernization trends in the management practices of higher education institutions, such as the implementation of innovative technologies, the development of dual education, the digitalization of management processes, and the strengthening of internal quality assurance systems. Particular attention is paid to the shift from traditional bureaucratic-administrative models of governance toward flexible, results-oriented strategies based on autonomy, transparency, and institutional accountability. The article substantiates the importance of an integrated management approach to efficiency enhancement, emphasizing its role in increasing the competitiveness of national higher education systems in a globalized context. The research findings can be used to improve strategic decision-making in educational management and to inform policy development aimed at the sustainable modernization of higher education institutions.
