METHODOLOGY FOR THE FUNCTIONING OF THE DIGITAL PLATFORM FOR UNIVERSITY INNOVATIONS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT “INNOHUB”

Keywords: InnoHub, university innovations, knowledge commercialization, technology transfer, economic development, artificial intelligence

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to substantiate the methodology for the functioning of the university innovation and economic development platform “InnoHub” as an institutional and digital instrument for enhancing knowledge commercialization in the academic environment. The relevance of the research is determined by persistent challenges in the Ukrainian innovation ecosystem, including fragmented interaction between universities, business, and investors, limited commercialization capacity of research results, and high transaction costs associated with technology transfer processes. The research methodology is based on a systemic and structural analysis of contemporary approaches to knowledge commercialization, innovation infrastructure development, and digital transformation of university-based innovation support mechanisms. Conceptual modeling, comparative analysis of international practices, and process decomposition methods were applied to design a five-stage technology transfer framework integrated into the platform architecture. Particular attention is paid to the role of digital solutions and artificial intelligence tools in automating early-stage idea screening, market potential assessment, and decision-making support. As a result of the study, a comprehensive conceptual model of the “InnoHub” platform is developed. The model integrates the functions of a startup incubator, business accelerator, and network-based collaboration environment within a single digital ecosystem. The platform methodology covers consecutive stages of idea identification, analytical assessment, legal and intellectual property support, internal marketplace integration, and financing attraction. The proposed approach reduces administrative burdens on researchers, improves transparency of innovation processes, and increases the alignment of academic outputs with market needs. The practical significance of the research lies in the applicability of the proposed methodology for universities, innovation hubs, and technology transfer offices aiming to improve the efficiency of knowledge commercialization, strengthen university–business cooperation, and support the formation of sustainable innovation ecosystems. The scalability of the “InnoHub” platform also creates opportunities for regional adaptation and integration into European innovation networks, contributing to long-term economic development and innovation-driven growth.
