PROJECT MANAGEMENT AS A KEY DRIVER OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL ECONOMY
Abstract
The article examines the role of project management as a key tool for ensuring sustainable development of regions in the context of modern socio-economic transformations and post-crisis economic recovery. The essence of sustainable development of regions is analyzed and key challenges to its implementation are identified, in particular, limited resources, institutional weakness, uneven development of territories and insufficient coordination between stakeholders. It is proven that the use of project management tools, such as planning, budgeting, monitoring, performance assessment and risk management, allows increasing the effectiveness of management decisions, ensuring transparency in the use of resources and adaptability to changes in the external environment. Particular attention is paid to the role of the project approach in stimulating innovative development, supporting entrepreneurship, forming cluster structures and implementing infrastructure initiatives. The importance of project management in the processes of post-crisis recovery of regions is determined, where it ensures systematicity, prioritization and coordination of recovery measures. The importance of integrating environmental and social aspects into the process of project implementation in accordance with the principles of sustainable development is emphasized. The methodological basis of the study includes general scientific and specialized methods, namely: analysis and synthesis for summarizing theoretical approaches to sustainable development and project management; a systems approach for considering the region as a complex socio-economic system; comparative analysis for evaluating modern development management approaches; and generalization for formulating conclusions and practical recommendations. The study proves that project management is an effective tool for increasing the competitiveness of regions and ensuring their long-term sustainable development. The need for further improvement of practical mechanisms for assessing the effectiveness of the project approach and adapting international standards to the conditions of development of the regions of Ukraine is substantiated.
